Xbox 360 3 Red Light Repair When Your Power Supply Light Is Red

Written on August 16, 2009 – 5:38 am | by Ryan Edward |

As with any game console, the Xbox 360 is prone to problems and errors. Something many gamers fear is the three red lights. This occurs when three lights flash red on the Ring of Light on the front of your Xbox 360 console. In this instance, the upper-right quadrant light is the only light that does not flash red. Here is some information on Xbox 360 3 red light repair when your power supply light is showing red.

When there is a problem the light on the 360 will suddenly be red or the console will just power down. If the lights switch to orange while you are playing you know you are in for some problems. There are many different reasons for this happening, but one thing that you should know is that in the event the external power supply which is also known as the power brick thinks there is a fault, it will either stop or turn off the hardware.

The power supply itself has more than a few safeguards that will keep harm from coming to your system. The power supply even turns it off when it recognizes that there is too much voltage or the temperature is just too high. In this case the lights will turn red or the system will turn off. In the worst case the system will freeze and not even give you an error code.

There are a few different things that you can try to fix your system. First of all you need to see what temperature the power supply is currently at, if it is not cool there is a problem and the red light may have been an indicator to that fact. If that is the case then put your power supply in a nice well ventilated space and turn off your system. When it has cooled sufficiently then you can turn the system back on. If all went well, then the lights will turn orange and you will be able to switch your console on once again.

A basic Xbox 360 3 red light repair method to confirm is that the power supply is plugged in correctly. If it is plugged into an extension cord, surge protector, or power strip, the amount of voltage may not be correct. In this case, try plugging the power supply directly into the wall outlet.

If all else fails then you can try a different power cord because there is a chance that the one you are using was defective. If you try another one and it turns on then you have found the problem. If it does not then it’s time to pay for your console to be fixed.
