What does a Computer Game System Require?
The computer video gaming is based on the same type of idea. There must be certain requirements that the computer system must have for the game to be played. Such requirements vary from game to game and the capacity of the device; for example a console, to perform functions and play the game asked for by the programmer.
Compatibility also has something to do with computer requirements. The idea behind this is the simple fact that a game can be played with compatible device which can play perfectly the said software. For instance, the video resolution of a program may differ according to the monitor that a gamer may use. With requirements, the user may know which monitor can possibly display good video.
What is the need for a certain requirement for a console to play the game? The game software is such designed for the latest technology surroundings. In case they are not compatible with the game systems, there are great chances that the nature of game would be hugely affected. These certain requirements set by the game are not for the game developer or the console manufacturer. These are for the benefit of the user in an effort to have the best quality video resolution output from the game and system.
Requirements are actually computer specifications that each device must possess. Basically, each game may require certain specifications to the device they must be played with. The game may require the following from the computer:
Speed of Processor – the speed of the processor is a very important factor that any game may require from a computer system. The speed of the processor tells as to how much time the computer system would take in order to complete a task. Video games being an executable program require the maximum speed of a system. Generally, the speed of processor is measured in terms of megahertz (MHz) and gigahertz (GHz), where megahertz is smaller than gigahertz. Exactly, one gigahertz is equivalent to a thousand megahertz. The processors having high speed can run the game at their own speed or lower but the processors having slow speed can never run those games that have high speed processor requirements.
Random Access Memory (RAM) – this is the memory which is present inside the computer system. This memory is used for the storage of that data which is continuously needed by the processor system. Mainly all of the computer systems available in the market have RAM around 64MB. And most of the games require RAM around this only. But, some of the games have a higher RAM requirement that may be up to 128MB. This is not a big issue as the RAM could be easily upgraded to higher memory capacity.
VRAM – it is abbreviation for Video Read Access Memory. The computer displays the resolution of the games based on VRAM. The working of this memory is based on video card. These video cards are just like processors which provide the system with visual display. VRAM is a short term memory and saves all the graphics technology information which is used by the video card and processor.
Disk Storage Capacity – it means the space that is available for storage of important files and related information. It is measured in Megabytes as units or simply MB and the capacity for the storage and playing of games increases as the disc space increases. It is also very easy to get space of the hard drive upgraded. Higher memory terms could be measured in terms of Gigabytes (GB).
CD-ROM drive speed – not all the games that are installed in your pc may no longer require a disc. Most game companies upgrade computer game programs using discs. This are later added in the game specs by means of reinstalling it in the computer. The faster the CD-ROM is the faster the installation will be. Every now and then, you will use the CD-ROM not just in playing games but also in ensuring copyright protection and the like. Just like other requirements, the CD-ROM speed can perform its duty well to game programs that has equal speed requirement or slower.
