The Top Ten SNES Games
The Super NES, or as many know it, the SNES, was the best selling 16-bit console. It was produced by Nintendo and was their second console. Although it was released later in the game, the SNES dominated the 16-bit console market with a solid library of games. Some of the SNES games are even considered to be some of the best games of all times. I’ve put together a list of some of the best selling games for the SNES. Here are my top 10 SNES games.
Number 10:Donkey Kong Country – Donkey Kong is a fun game that was released late in the 16-bit era, but was one of the best Super Nintendo games. It remained popular past the 16-bit console era and into the lifespan of the PlayStation. The game is know of its unique 3D side scroller play style. The graphics were very advanced for its time and helped create this fun and unique game.
Number 9: Final Fantasy III – FF III continues the Final Fantasy series, which is considered to be one the the biggest and most amazing video games series of all times. Final Fantasty was the last 2D game of the FF series. The game converted to a 3D play style once it was introduced on the PlayStation. Final Fantasy is used the traditional turn based RPG fighting system. I prefer live action fighting, but this is a great game.
Number 8: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars – This is a super fun RPG game that mixes traditional RPG elements, like Final Fantasy, and adds in some Mario spice. A great RPG that is a ton of fun to play.
Number 7: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong’s Quest – A solid game that has earned its spot as on of the best SNES games. The second Donkey Kong game continues the reputation set in the first Donkey Kong Country. A solid game that has an even better design than the first DKC.
Number 6: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island – This uniqe gam continues the Super Mario series on the SNES. It is a stand out game that any SNES fan should buy.
Number 5: Mega Man X – This is a classic Nintendo series. It had six games on the original NES console. Its move to the SNES brings an extremely entertaining series to the SNES. It retains many of the classic elements from the series, but brings many new and advanced elements. Not only is Mega Man X a great game, so are the other three Mega Man games for the Super Nintendo.
Number 4: Secret of Mana – Secret of Mana is a great game. Its very similar to Zelda in the fact that it is an action RPG. The game play is complex and involved. The game also has a very fun multi-player game where you play through Secret of Mana with your friends. This game is huge for its time. It is a 20+ hour adventure game and is a must have for any avid gamer.
Number 3: Super Metroid – This game tops almost all SNES lists. If you’re an old school NES player, than you know how great this game was. The SNES version is just as good.
Number 2: Chrono Trigger – Who doesn’t love Chrono Trigger? This is one of the greatest RPG games of all times. It has a total of 14 different endings, what else can I say? Amazing for the SNES.
Number 1: The Legend of Zelda: I love the game more than any other game on the SNES and I even consider it my favorite game ever. The unique, but simple, design creates a massive universe to be explored my Link as he tries to rescue Zelda.
