The Flashing Yellow Light Of Doom

This fault, even with newer consoles, is very common. In fact, it is the most common issue that arises from using the PS3. The reason that this issue occurs is due to the high operating heat. When the internal area of the console heats up, this can result in the softening of the solder that holds important wires in place. Understandably, if wires are not connected where they are supposed to be, this can have dire implications on whether or not your console will run or not. This issue is fixable by most people who are comfortable using a soldering iron, however care absolutely must be taken, otherwise you can end up with a broken console.

The Red Light Issue (RLOD)

This issue tends to arise from console overheating, much like the YLOD issue, however it can also arise from problems with your hard drive. The easiest way to fix this issue is to remove your hard drive from the PS3, and plug it in to your computer using the relevant dock or slot. You can then attempt any repairs on the HDD using software built into Windows, or any other third party software. In some instances, the hard disk may be beyond repair, but that is not the end of the world, as hard disks of the size that the PS3 uses are actually very affordable, and can be installed within a few seconds by yourself.

Disks Jammed In The Disk Drive

Sometimes through an internal fault, or even through either of the two above issues, a disk may become jammed in the Blu-Ray drive. Obviously, your games are extremely valuable to you, plus any other media that you may use such as Blu-Ray disks and DVD disks. This can sometimes be an easy fix, however it can also require the opening of the Blu-Ray drive for removal. For obvious reasons, this can be a tedious task, almost always requiring either a warranty repair, or the use of a good and comprehensive PS3 repair guide.

To conclude, I will say that it is worthwhile to consider whether or not it is wise to repair your console on your own. A simple PS3 repair guide will be able to teach you step by step how to repair your console, however some issues are just better off being dealt with by Sony, especially if you have nimble fingers. Give it some thought, as it is much better to have a fully working console rather than one that doesnt work at the end of the day.

Space appeals to a massive range of people, and the Mass Effect games gave gamers the chance to get out there and fully explore what the Milky Way has to offer, in terms of planets, elements, stories and aliens. Being able to freely explore the universe as much as you want to, was something that was fairly new to gaming and it made a massive splash when it hit.

The original Mass Effect had the player controlling commander Shepherd, along with their trusty crew, into a fight with an alien race of intelligent machines. There’s no reason to spoil the plot, but the Reapers play a big part in the game, and the third title sees their return to the series as the doom bringers of the galaxy. The poor Milky Way is being terrorised by these beings, and it’s down to Shepherd to get out there and rally an army large enough to destroy them all.

Mass Effect 3 takes the main protagonist Shepherd into the centre of a fight for the entire galaxy. A terrifying species of advanced machines are descending upon Earth and consuming everything on its surface. The Reapers, as they are called, were the original threat in the first Mass Effect game, and destroying just one of them was enough of a task for any player, but now Bioware set the challenge of defeating every last one of them. The player will have to make the series defining life or death vhoices, but this time around for an entire species instead of just one person, so the Salarians could just up and get destroyed by the reapers if a player chooses so.

The internet, television, and magazines are buzzing with praise over Mass Effect 3, and all of the hype is sure to encourage gamers to go and buy it on day one. This is the first game in the series to feature multiplayer, and that is a concept that will be exploited to the maximum by every eager fan. For the very first time the whole crew can be made up of real players, which will only add to the tactical elements the game presents to players. The extra challenge of fighting real people instead of AI bots will also make the multiplayer a game all on its own.
