Saga becomes latest MMO to take the free-to-play route

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Yet another previously launched MMO title is making the switch to become a free-to-play game. This time its Saga, the fantasy themed RTS MMO from developer Silverlode Interactive. The game was first launched in March 2008 with a $19.95 price tag for a one time download and purchase. Now Silverlode has announced that all of the content in that $19.95 purchase is now available for free.

While the email press release we received said the free-to-play change over would happen tomorrow it looks like the change is now live a few hours ahead of schedule. In addition there’s some new content that’s been added to the game including rasing the unit level cap to 15 and the nation level cap to 40.

With the new season about to debut on Fox next week and the previous season being release on DVD tomorrow, publisher Legacy Interactive has announced that their medical adventure game based on the House M.D. TV series is now available for download and purchase for $19.99.

Yes you can play a doctor who tries to help the cranky and sarcastic Dr. Gregory House and his team with a variety of medical mysteries via solving puzzles and winning at various mini-games. You also have to search the houses of patients for clues, interview family and friends and basically be a bit on the nosy side While the game has the likenesses of the cast members it doesn’t seem to have the actor’s voices.

Red Faction Armageddon delayed to May 2011; THQ lowers financial guidence

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Filed under:

The next Red Faction game will be coming out a bit later than first announced. Publisher THQ announced today that the sci-fi shooter Red Faction: Armageddon, originally due for release in March 2011, will now be coming out a couple of months later in the May 2011 time frame. No specific reason for the delay was announced.

This move by THQ pushes the game out of the company’s current fiscal year which ends on March 31, 2011. Because of this change THQ has lowered its revenue expectations for the fiscal year. Previously it had said it expected revenues between $845 million to $865 million. It now says that it expects revenues to come in between $800 million to $825 million for the fiscal year. it also expects to post a loss for the entire fiscal year versus its previous predictions of a break even fiscal year.

THQ also announced today it plans to release the third person action game Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine in the summer of 201. In addition, the next game in the Saints Row open world action game series is due out in the fall of 2011.
