Castlevania is a classic console series whose main appeal lies in just how hair-pullingly frustrating and hard it is. There aren’t very many of those on the PC, but there is a genre with the sort of entertaining, mind-numbing difficulty that is so prevalent on consoles. The genre is rogue-likes, and when you merge the two, you get the excellent CastlevaniaRL: Serenade of Chaos. A java-based game originally made for a rogue-like competition, it has expanded greatly. In a way, it’s much like the (already covered) excellent DoomRL, except with Castlevania.

BioWare’s long awaited MMO game Star Wars: The Old Republic keeps revealing new settings and info for the game on its official web site like an onion shedding its layers. It’s latest reveal today comes in the form of a new planet in the game’s universe.
The planet is called Belsavis and is unusual for two reasons. One is that the planet is locked mostly in ice, except for some odd temperate regions where plants can grow. The other reason? It’s the location of an ancient prison planet where a long lost civilization put in the most vile and violent criminals around. It sounds like both the Imperials and the Republic forces might have to deal with the threats that have been contained in Belsavis and are itching to get out.

“Not all the denizens of the Fade identify with darker emotions like rage and pride. Some embody the nobler qualities found in humanity: faith, hope, compassion, and justice. Justice is not a name, it is an identity. A victim of magic gone awry, Justice has been torn from the Fade against his will and trapped in the body of a dead Grey Warden.
