This is going to sound like a broken record but here we go anyway. Developer Digital Illusions will once again be taking down the multiplayer servers for their recent first person shooter Battlefield Bad Company 2. The reason is at least a good one. They will be putting in some new server machines to deal with the online traffic that has been much larger than first anticipated for the game.
The downtime will begin tomorrow morning at 3 am Eastern time. Yet another downtime period will happen Saturday morning at the same time. Digital Illusions promises, “Once the maintenance is complete you will experience an improvement to your online experience.” We certainly hope so.

Last month, Electronic Arts announced plans to publish some kind of new Dragon Age game in the first quarter of 2011. Now there’s further proof of some kind of new entry in BioWare’s fantasy RPG series as 1Up.com reports on a mysterious piece of art in the retail box of Dragon Age Origins: Awakening, the upcoming expansion to last fall’s game.
As you can see there’s a big dragon and the date 02.01.2011 on top. That suggests that something Dragon Age related is going to be released on February 1, 2011. But is it another large expansion pack or a true sequel to Dragon Age Origins. If it’s a sequel it would be released less than 18 months after the original game came out.

So, this guy gutted an Outrun arcade cabinet, jammed it on a go-kart and, in the name of university research, assembled a contraption that drives 15 mph in the real world while displaying it as an 8-bit virtual one. More »

It’s been two years since Telltale Games‘ second “season” of Sam and Max game episodes but in about a month the wait will be over. IGN, reporting from GDC, states that the first epsiode of the third season will be available for download on April 15 for both the PC and the Mac. It’s the first time that any Telltale episodic series will launch for both PC and Mac platforms at the same time (oh, it’s also coming to the Playstation Network too).
There will be five episodes for this season, which apparently has the overall subtitle The Devil’s Playhouse. Telltale will let folks pre-order the full season for $34.95 but it looks like they won’t be selling individual episodes yet. Anyone who does pre-order will get some special stuff such as a free episode from any of Telltale’s previous games, access to a special preview section, a private forum with chats with Telltale’s team and Sam and Max creator Steve Purcell and more.

Telltale Games isn’t done with the Sam & Max adventure series. The studio has announced the third downloadable season, “The Devil’s Playhouse,” which looks to begin hitting in monthly increments starting on April 15th.
Perhaps more startling is the fact that Telltale is set on plopping the new 5-part season onto PSN. As revealed last afternoon via press release, and during their shindig at GDC a foggy night ago, the series premiere, “The Penal Zone,” will debut on PSN as well as the PC and Macintosh. Check below the fold for the first trailer, which teases a bit of the series’ story. Spoiler: it has something to do with Max getting psychic abilities.
