Monster Hunter Slays Dragon Quest IX In Japanese Sales Chart [Sales Get!]
Who can end Dragon Quest IX‘s chart topping run in Japan? As expected, it’s Monster Hunter 3, the Wii sequel to the bestselling slay and loot series that has seen monstrous success on the PSP.
Dragon Quest IX‘s three week run at the top of the chart is ended by sales of more than half a million copies of Monster Hunter 3. And with the release of Sega’s Puyo Puyo 7 in Japan, the top five games this week are all for Nintendo platforms.
Nintendo’s bestselling streak is broken up by the newly released Gears of War 2, which debuted with 49,000 copies sold in the Japan. Epic Games’ shooter outperformed most of the week’s new releases, including The King of Fighters XII and Doki Majo Plus, neither of which scored a top ten spot.
