CGR Undertow – KLONOA for Nintendo Wii Video Game Review
Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Klonoa from Namco for the Nintendo Wii. Klonoa is the 2009 remake of the original Klonoa: Door To Phantomile, a 1997 PlayStation game and one of the system’s most influential and underrated titles. The first Klonoa was a genuinely groundbreaking game, one of the earliest practitioners of the 2.5D platformer…as well as one of the best. Klonoa is a hybrid platformer that plays like the classics and incorporates its own twist on modern approaches. You see design elements like this in everything from New Super Mario Bros. to Donkey Kong Country Returns, and although it never gets the credit, Klonoa was one of the first to try them. This video review features video gameplay footage of Klonoa for the Nintendo Wii and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.

This game is awesome, it’s like Sonic The Hedgehog mixed with Knights and Kirby.

I never knew this was originally a pS1 game. Because of this review, I went and bought myself a copy of this game. I really like it so far, and I hope they rerelease the original PS1 version on the PSN so I can play it on my PSP 3000. I also bought Klonoa 2 for the PS2 and it should come in this week.

I was so annoyed when this game came out, I was itching to buy it, counting down the days and everything, but when it finally did come out, I couldn’t find it. Literally, NONE of the shops in our area were selling it! Now I don’t know what determines whether a game makes it to the UK or not, but after being told the game was going to be released in my area, I wanted to know why I couldn’t find it anywhere! Also, I wish I hadn’t played the original, would have made this one all the more exciting.

Klonoa was a 2.5-D platformer before it was cool to be a 2.5-D platformer.

I never heard of Klonoa until around 2008. And when I heard this Wii remake was coming soon, I thought it would be the perfect time to introduce myself to the series. And when it came out and I finally got around to buying it, I was impressed by how great this game was! I hope Namco Bandai makes more Klonoa in the future! Like a Klonoa 3D for the 3DS, or a remake of the sequel for PS2. That would be totally awesome!
