Aion may not be the World of Warcraft killer some wish it was, but it’s still a solid experience. The new expansion may be coming to stores, repackaged with the original game, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve trailers. This new trailer is fairly standard MMO fair: heavy usage of choir music, fly-through of a new zone, and the showing of new enemies in said zone. There’s no narration, just a simple examination of the environment players will be enjoying soon. We can’t say we are impressed too much, but when you’ve seen one MMO trailer, you’ve seen them all. Can’t help but become a cynic!

Rifts: Planes of Telara is not exactly forthcoming and in-depth with their videos, but they certainly show off cool sections of the game. This brief trailer does exactly that, showing off exactly what happens at a fire rift. Apparently, a huge flaming head comes out of nowhere and barfs up (magically!) a horde of fire demons and creatures. That’s all there is to the trailer, so if you enjoy gigantic fiery noggins and creature designs, you’ll love this.Otherwise, nothing really of interest.

Despite the relatively mediocrity and poor reception of Age of Conan, developer Funcom has been hard at work on magical conspiracy MMO The Secret World. It may have been delayed, but it has certainly not been forgotten, and this trailer gives a glimpse into the modern, yet magic-suffused world players will join. The trailer only explores London, and showcases some of the areas, cutscenes, and characters that one will interface with when they get the game. Of most interest is The Fallen King, a hobo that purports to give visions of personal futures. This aims to show players the ropes of combat and grouping, and the trailer shows the results. While it’s not all that fantastic looking compared to other upcoming MMOs, The Secret World certainly has our interest!

The newer Clone Wars series has found quite a wide audience, despite being placed on the primarily kid-focused Cartoon Network. It’s the highest rated original show in the channel’s history, and there’s no signs of it slowing down. Naturally, LucasArts is keen to exploit such a popular property, and the result is the upcoming Clone Wars Adventures. Those looking forward to this new free-to-play MMO from Sony will definitely want to check out this trailer.
The most important concepts in the trailer are pets, housing, and costumes. Pets are different droid models, and players can modify them with various add-ons. For example, you might give R2-D2 a jetpack, or C3PO missile launchers. Housing will be available to all players, although free housing will be much more restricted than the housing for subscription players. Finally, there will be hundreds of costumes, with more coming out with each new episode of the TV series.

Everquest 2, despite stiff competition from other major titles, is still going strong. It also seems to be following in the footsteps of other major fantasy titles, but not in the realm of content. Much like Dungeons and Dragons Online or Lord of the Rings Online, Everquest 2 is going free. Granted, we’ve already mentioned this, but Sony has released a trailer for all those sitting on the fence about trying the classic MMO. It showcases some of the areas, enemies, playable races, and abilities, so those that are looking for a good example of what to expect should definitely give it a look.
