Zenonia 2: The Lost Memory, in closed beta testing as you read this, features four characters, each falling into one of two categories, ranged and melee. The teenage paladin Lu and Warrior Daza will be at the forefront of battle, taking as good as they can get while magician Morpice and pistol-packing Ekne take up the rear.
I’m a little worried about ranged characters in a game controlled with a virtual joystick, which doesn’t always work, but I am looking forward to getting my hands on all four of these new characters when Zenonia 2 hits the iPhone app store, hopefully later this month.

That’s not a bad thing, of course. In truth, Luminous Arc developer Imageepoch’s first console title is looking quite lovely. Plus the Japanese seemed to really enjoy it when it came out last year, picking up 26,000 copies during the first week of release.
I just wish RPG developers would go ahead and figure out which console is going to be the go-to for role-playing games this generation. First there was the Super Nintendo. Then it was the PlayStation, followed by the PlayStation 2. So far this generation it’s pretty even between the Wii and Xbox 360, with the PlayStation 3 slowly catching up. Will there be a clear winner?

This intense trailer for Alpha Protocol provides a deeper look at the game’s plot and what the player is expected to do as a modern day spy. Although players will mostly be working on their own, they’ll be able to gather together a team of experts and mercenaries to aid them. Alpha Protocol, the organization the players work for might offer some assistance too, but somehow we get the feeling they might not be too reliable in the long run. It might depend on how players choose to develop their character, either by the book or with a more forceful attitude. We’ll find out when the game releases on June 1.

Now Gamevil returns with a second helping in Zenonia 2: The Lost Memories, with more characters, ranged and melee combat, and online player-versus-player modes for the more competitive among us.
As an avid RPG fan myself, Zenonia was the game that cemented the iPhone as a gaming platform in my eyes. Hopefully the second dose will be just as impressive.
