Why The Wii Looks Good In Black

Sunday, February 14th, 2010 |

When it comes to games consoles, the Nintendo Wii is a bit of a dark horse. In comparison with either the Xbox or Sony\’s PS3, it is a little underpowered. It also has graphics which are, again relatively speaking, less complex – there is a cartoon like element to many Wii games. Even so, it is immensely successful.

The fact that it has a ticket price which is quite a bit lower than either the Xbox or the PS3 is definitely a plus point. Another factor is the Wiimote – Nintendo\’s motion sensitive controller which is used to play Wii games. When compared with the other consoles, game play on the Wii is a totally different experience.

There is definitely more physical movement involved when playing Wii games than gaming on other consoles – where generally the thumbs are the only part of the body that get a work out. It\’s also probably true to say that, apart from the physical exercise involved, Wii games are easier to learn and more intuitive to play. If you forget what button does what it doesn\’t really matter – just flail your arms around and it\’ll be fine.

Another consequence of the physical side to Wii games is that you need more space to play them. This is one of the reasons why many families have the Wii console in the living room rather than tucked away in teenager\’s bedrooms – the normal habitat of the Xbox and PS3.

As well as requiring more space to play, the Wii is better enjoyed when used with a nice big screen. This may seem like an odd notion considering that the Wii\’s graphics are, at least in comparison with the other consoles, fairly rudimentary. The reason for this is that it is harder to keep up with the game action on a small screen when the player is jumping around.

In the summer of 2009, Nintendo launched a black Wii console in Japan. It was a big hit and Nintendo released it in Europe before Christmas 2009, where it was also a popular choice with gamers. One possible reason for its success may have been the fact that the black colour was a good match for the other electrical devices – the TV, the DVD player, the cable box etc. – that can be found in the typical family living room.

Finally, one word of warning – if you decide to get yourself a Wii, take it easy at first. The physical activity involved in playing Wii games is a good thing – but if you\’re more used to conventional video gaming it\’s pretty easy to wind up with stiff arms and sore legs after your first session of Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort.

Have a look at the black Wii for yourself and see how it compares with the new slim version of the PS3 game console by Sony.

A Review Of The Nintendo Wii

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 |

The Nintendo Wii was released back in 2006, a breakthrough of video gaming as a
whole.

The Wii has great interactive, motion-controlled gameplay instead of the industry’s
standard of a controller, loaded with analog stick and directional buttons. This
new gaming concept makes the Wii a great, attractive games console for the young and old
alike, whereas previous other games consoles were mainly intended for teenage boys
and young men.

The Wii is a very attractive console on the whole. The white glossy finish can’t
really be criticised, and the console is famously known to be the size of three
DVD boxes stacked on top of each other, making it one of the smallest non-handheld
gaming consoles in history.

The Wii’s controller is unique. Shaped like a TV remote control, it simply has
a directional keypad and several buttons. Its motion control feature makes it
the interactive controller that it is. Like the main console, the controller
is glossy white with blue lights.

One of the great aspects of the WiiMote is its expansion port. It’ll connect to a nunchuk,
lightsaber, laser gun, steering wheel, sword, crossbow, bow, tennis racquet and a load of
other accessories.

Gameplay on the Wii is just addictive. There’s a wide variety of games that you can buy,
ranging from family sports to full-blown action. You’ll be hooked for hours on this console,
whacking tennis balls at your opponent and shooting down bad guys. The Wii’s a heap of fun.

Of course, as is expected, there are several downsides to the Wii, one of which is the quality of
graphics. The Wii’s graphics are similar to those of the PS2, but is not even closely matched
to those of the other next-gen consoles, such as the PS3 Slim and xBox 360. It’s a good thing
that the interactive gameplay compensates for the lack of graphics quality.

Another downside to the Wii is that the WiiMote does gobble up the batteries, as you
would expect for a wireless controller such as this. Make sure you do use
rechargeable batteries for the controllers you have.

Not to be a nit picker, but yet another downside to the Wii is the fact that it’s huge
variety of peripherals do add up to become quite expensive, but if you compare the prices
of these addons to those of the xBox 360, they are relatively well priced.

This all begs the question; should I buy the Nintendo Wii? The Wii is priced at
a moderate 170, so it won’t cut you back by too much cash. This console is suitable
for the whole family, from very old to very young. If you’re looking for a console
to bring the family together, and to get a little bit of exercise while gaming, the
Wii is for you!

What Are The 3 Biggest Playstation 3 Games Coming In 2010?

Sunday, August 16th, 2009 |

2009 is poised to become a big, big year for the Sony Playstation 3. In fact, this early, Sony is already dubbing this as the year that the Playstation brand has returned to prominence. 2009 marked the first time that the Sony PS3 beat the Microsoft Xbox 360 in terms of sales. 2009 also marked the first time, albeit for a fleeting moment, that the Nintendo Wii was dislodged from the top of the Japanese sales charts, also by the Sony Playstation 3.

With some big titles coming up in the fourth quarter of the year, 2009 is looking good for Sony Entertainment.

But the games that are coming this holiday season have been expected for more than a year, so they’re really no surprise. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Modern Warfare 2, Rock Band: Beatles, Brutal Legend and Tekken 6 are some of the big-name titles that are already on most PS3 owners’ want lists.

But what’s coming after 2009?

What are the big games that will define the console in 2010?

Here are three of the biggest game franchises landing on the PS3, all of which are expected to be blockbuster titles.

1. God of War III (March, 2010). What has become Sony’s flagship property is coming to the Sony Playstation 3 for the first and the last time. The third installment of the storied franchise will have Kratos, the god of war, battling the forces of the Underworld and the wrath of vindictive gods in worlds carved at the back of the long banished Titans. Yes, ENTIRE worlds on the surface of the back of Titans this is how big the scale of the third game is. The technical demo shown had the camera panning in and out – with no loss in frame rate – to reveal Kratos killing some monsters in a forest-rich environment one moment, and the back of a slowly moving Titan the next. God of War III is expected to be one of the hottest selling titles for 2010, and this early, it is being billed as a Game of the Year (GOTY) favorite.

2. Final Fantasy XIV (2010, right after the release of FF XIII). Final Fantasy XI was the first MMORPG of the Final Fantasy franchise. It was released 7 years ago, and up to this writing, it still boasts of more than 2 million active subscribers – a number that is envied by newly released and more technologically advanced MMOPRGs today. The next MMORPG for the franchise is scheduled to be released in 2010. Final Fantasy XIV Online, as of this time, is pegged as a Sony Playstation3 exclusive.

3. Heavy Rain. This Sony Playstation 3 games displays some of the most impressive graphics ever seen in a video game. Much of the action will be quick time events. But they are intense! Heavy Rain is a story-driven title that puts you in the shoes of a detective that is investigating a mystery that can change all of existence. Truly, Heavy Rain is one of the most anticipated Sony Playstation 3 games for 2010.

Xbox 360 3 Red Light Repair When Your Power Supply Light Is Red

Sunday, August 16th, 2009 |

As with any game console, the Xbox 360 is prone to problems and errors. Something many gamers fear is the three red lights. This occurs when three lights flash red on the Ring of Light on the front of your Xbox 360 console. In this instance, the upper-right quadrant light is the only light that does not flash red. Here is some information on Xbox 360 3 red light repair when your power supply light is showing red.

When there is a problem the light on the 360 will suddenly be red or the console will just power down. If the lights switch to orange while you are playing you know you are in for some problems. There are many different reasons for this happening, but one thing that you should know is that in the event the external power supply which is also known as the power brick thinks there is a fault, it will either stop or turn off the hardware.

The power supply itself has more than a few safeguards that will keep harm from coming to your system. The power supply even turns it off when it recognizes that there is too much voltage or the temperature is just too high. In this case the lights will turn red or the system will turn off. In the worst case the system will freeze and not even give you an error code.

There are a few different things that you can try to fix your system. First of all you need to see what temperature the power supply is currently at, if it is not cool there is a problem and the red light may have been an indicator to that fact. If that is the case then put your power supply in a nice well ventilated space and turn off your system. When it has cooled sufficiently then you can turn the system back on. If all went well, then the lights will turn orange and you will be able to switch your console on once again.

A basic Xbox 360 3 red light repair method to confirm is that the power supply is plugged in correctly. If it is plugged into an extension cord, surge protector, or power strip, the amount of voltage may not be correct. In this case, try plugging the power supply directly into the wall outlet.

If all else fails then you can try a different power cord because there is a chance that the one you are using was defective. If you try another one and it turns on then you have found the problem. If it does not then it’s time to pay for your console to be fixed.

If you have basic technical skills, and have some basic tools you will need, this will a very easy job to get done.

If you’re warranty is still valid, and you open up the box yourself, they will know and it will void the warranty. You have to be careful because there are many different causes such as (the red ring of death error) to having an Xbox 360 go bad on you, so you want to make sure if you are doing it on your own, that you are fixing the right thing.

Looking For PSP Downloads? Here’s How To Download PSP Games!

Sunday, July 12th, 2009 |
by Dave Freeman

If you’re the lucky owner of a PSP there’s a good chance you have heard about the ability to download games, movies and music and use them on your system. It’s a great way to keep your PSP stocked with all the newest games and make sure you never get bored! One of the most common questions we get from PSP users is “How Do I Download PSP Games?”

There are a few options available for downloading PSP games. Some free, some risky for your computer, some neither of these. Let’s examine these options.

You will probably run across a few website that offer “free” PSP game downloads. However, the old saying “you get what you pay for” comes to mind here! Since you aren’t paying a dime, these websites have all sorts of problems associated with them. In fact, several have been shut down in recent months for distributing viruses, spyware and other infections.

Run with no money behind them, and no profit motive driving the owners to make things safe and useful for visitors, these sites are a veritable minefield for your computer. Spyware and viruses aside, these sites allow anyone to upload files, meaning that free PSP game download could well be another file entirely, or a corrupt, unplayable file. The unbelievably slow download speeds on these sites mean that you could waste a lot of time finding this out as well.

As I’m sure you can tell, I’m not a fan of these so-called free PSP download sites. They can harm your computer, waste your time and cause a lot of headaches.

Membership sites are really your best bet for downloading PSP games. They are not free, but are typically not very expensive. These fees are more than offset by even a few downloads. These sites are run like a business, because they are businesses. They put some care into ensuring that the files hosted on their site are free of viruses and other threats, and are tested to make sure that they work.

It always surprises me that there aren’t more people using these websites. The cost of one of these sites is less than the price of one new game and your membership gives you access to unlimited PSP game downloads (along with movies, music, roms etc). The best sites will also provide you with the software you need to transfer the files to your PSP.

The best values are the sites which just charge a one time fee for a lifetime membership. Somewhere between $30 and $50 will get you one of these memberships. Other sites have monthly fees, or even per-downloads, but these pale in comparison to being able to download any PSP game, movie or music file you want any time of day or night.

Downloading games for your PSP is a wonderful thing, and saves PSP gamers lots of money and time. Just trying to find parking can sometimes take longer than downloading a game, for instance – and wouldn’t you rather be enjoying your new games in minutes and spending more time with your PSP?

Whenever you are searching for something on the internet the frsrt place to go is your favorite search engine. Most likely you will start your search on Google. You will be surprised how many results you will get when searching for “download DS games”. However, most of these sites shown will tak you to torrent or peer to peer networks.
