A Young Boy With Tall Dreams
Bobby LaPonte is admittedly merely a child. He is six seasons of age, the only child of his parents, and lives with his parents in Johns Creek, Georgia.
But Bobby has big dreams. Although jovial in age, he’s completely focused on his dream to one day race in NASCAR’s huge leagues, the Sprint Cup Series.
Bobby’s aspirations are so giant, actually, that he regularly dreams about racing with the big boys. As per to his parents, Larry and Nancy, he even makes the clamor of racecars in his sleep.
Larry thinks that his boy acquired his interest in racing while still a fetus.
“I drove the amateur road course circuit for ten years,” he said. “When my spouse was expectant with Bobby, she used to come to see me drive and we believe that is when Bobby began his passion for racing.”
Much like Jeff Gordon and his girl Ella, the LaPontes maintain pictures of baby Bobby climbing in and back out his dad’s race car when he was only a baby.
Bobby might practice each day if he may, and he becomes that opportunity with the extensive race year, from March to November, in the south. He and his dad race every weekend, regularly going to other states, which include Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee, to participate in their regional events.
This most recent July, Bobby raced in his first countrywide title event. He won his semifinal heat race.
Bobby is fast to speak you that he competes in quarter midgets, a smaller version of the USAC Midget Sprint autos that Cup racers like NASCAR’s title point leader Tony Stewart begun his profession driving.
Bobby lets you recognize that since he plans to trail in Stewart’s footsteps and take that same road in his own racing career.
This little guy indeed is looking forward to realizing his huge NASCAR dreams, that of racing with his heroes in the seasons to come.
